Chapter 875: Zombie

Facing someone who had surpassed the bounds of mortal strength, how could Max dare to refuse? He quickly bowed, forcing a bitter smile onto his face. “Senior, please feel free to tell me what you need me to do. I will definitely give my utmost effort.”

Max wasn’t foolish; he knew someone of this level could end his life in an instant if he so wished. The fact that this man even bothered speaking to him instead of acting directly meant there was something important, something specific only he could do.

The general seemed pleased with his quick acceptance, his eyes lighting up faintly with satisfaction. “Good. You have the bloodline of the Black Lotus Guild, do you not?”

Max’s heart skipped a beat. “Senior actually knew?” His voice carried a note of genuine surprise. Only a handful of people in the entire secret domain had identified his bloodline before, and most of them were elites from the seven overlord forces. For someone to know at just a glance… it was terrifying, yet unsurprising given the man’s apparent level.

He took a breath, his tone soft but respectful. “I wonder, Senior… what exactly is it you need me to do?”

The general’s smile deepened even further, as though Max had finally asked the question he had been waiting for all along.

Max froze, stunned by the man’s words. “Do you know who I am?” the handsome general asked suddenly, his calm voice carrying a weight that echoed in the thick yin energy around them.

Max instinctively shook his head, honesty flashing across his face. “I… I don’t, Senior.” In truth, he had no idea who this man was. At first glance, he looked like a middle-aged man in his prime, handsome beyond reason, carrying an aura so noble and ancient it seemed to surpass the limits of the mortal world. But beyond that, Max knew nothing.

The general’s lips curved into a faint smile. “I am an undead… from the time ten thousand years ago.”

Max’s eyes widened in disbelief. “Undead? You mean… like a zombie?” The words slipped out of his mouth almost involuntarily. He had encountered all manner of strange beasts and experts, but never had he imagined an undead of such a level still existed in the present day.

The general chuckled, not at all offended. His gaze softened slightly, yet it carried an inexplicable depth. “First, display your black flames for me to see carefully.”

Max hesitated for a fraction of a second but then nodded. He raised both hands and summoned the power of the Crimson Reaper inheritance. Immediately, thick black flames erupted from his palms, burning like a dark inferno, flickering ominously as they distorted the air around them.

The general studied the flames in silence, his expression unreadable. After a long pause, he nodded slowly. “Hmm. This could be useful.”

Max blinked, his brow furrowing slightly. ’Useful? Useful for what?’ A swirl of questions flashed in his mind, but before he could voice them, the general spoke again.

“You are injured now. I will heal you first.”

Before Max could respond or even protest, the general stepped forward and placed one cold, jade-like hand on his shoulder.

In an instant, Max felt an overwhelming yet controlled cold force rush into his body, sweeping through every vein and meridian. It wasn’t the chilling cold of death, but an oddly pure and cleansing sensation, like being submerged in icy spring water.

His injuries, though wasn’t much, healed instantly, leaving behind perfectly smooth skin as though he had never been injured at all.

Max took a sharp breath. The exhaustion he had carried disappeared in an instant, leaving him feeling strangely refreshed, almost invigorated. He quickly bowed in gratitude. “Thank you, Senior.”

However, even as he expressed thanks, his heart beat faster, a trace of unease forming within him. ’The stronger this person is… the more terrifying the task he might ask me to do.’ It was becoming increasingly clear that this mysterious undead general didn’t save him out of kindness alone—there was purpose behind every action.

Yet, a different thought also bloomed in Max’s mind. ’If I could gain power like this… if I could heal with a single touch, suppress legends without effort…’ The idea of becoming stronger, incomparably stronger, burned deeper within him, solidifying his resolve to climb to the peak.

“Come here.”

The general’s voice snapped him back to reality. Max stepped closer without hesitation, his hand still clutching the Blue Dragon Sword for reassurance.

The general pointed to a region ahead where thick Yin mana surged like an ocean, constantly rolling and twisting. “What I want you to do is very simple. When this Yin mana erupts from the yin cave, you will use the power of your black flames to weaken its power.”

Max’s eyes widened when he heard the words. “Yin mana?” he repeated in shock, his gaze instinctively shifting forward. There, beneath the thick, rolling Yin energy, was a gaping black hole nearly ten feet across.

From within it, tides of Yin energy surged outward like waves in a stormy sea, carrying with them an eerie chill that seeped into the bones.

Max froze for a moment, stunned at what he was seeing. ’A Yin Cave…?’ He had read about such phenomena in ancient records, but never imagined he would see one in person.

Yin Caves were extremely rare and could only form in places overflowing with extreme Yin energy. They were considered sources of pure Yin power and were highly sought after by undead experts, Yin-attributed beasts, and certain dark sects. And yet, one had appeared here, deep inside the Hidden Sound Valley of this secret domain.

He turned toward the general, his expression cautious. “Senior, do you… want to use the power of this Yin energy to cultivate?”

The handsome general nodded lightly, a faint smile tugging at his lips. “Yes. You already know that I possess the body of an undead—a zombie. This Yin energy is exceptionally beneficial to me. However, the rules of this secret domain greatly suppress my strength, preventing me from fully controlling the Yin Cave’s eruption on my own. The energy released from within is too violent. If I attempt to absorb it as it is, I could fail and suffer severe backlash.”

His eyes turned to Max, steady and unblinking. “That is why I need your black flames—to suppress and balance its eruption, weakening the destructive surge so I can absorb it safely.”
