Chapter 882: Pure Yang Flower

Max stepped into the range without hesitation, the little Rat perched firmly on his shoulder. The creature, born for treasure hunting, wasted no time—it sniffed the air, twitched its whiskers, and darted off at remarkable speed, forcing Max to keep pace.

Under its expert guidance, Max quickly located multiple patches of valuable herbs, including several fourth-grade and even a rare fifth-grade spiritual medicine.

Of course, Pure Yang Mountain wasn’t unguarded. Many ferocious beasts, drawn to the yang energy of this land, prowled near the herbs. A large crimson-furred wolf lunged at Max at one point, and another time a massive scaled lizard tried to ambush him from above. Yet none posed any real threat.

Max’s sword gleamed with deadly precision, cutting down monster after monster with little effort.

“Puff!” Another beast fell, its blood dyeing the ground as Max reached down and plucked a fifth-grade spiritual medicine from its nest.

“Little guy,” Max said, turning to the Rat, “can you sense where the yang energy is the strongest?”

The yang-attributed herbs he sought—especially the rare Pure Yang Jasmine—thrived in dry areas where yang energy was at its peak.

The little Rat squeaked and leapt to his shoulder, sniffing and turning its head in different directions. After a moment of consideration, it pointed its tiny paw firmly toward the east.

Max followed its gaze and immediately spotted an enormous peak towering above the rest, its height easily surpassing a thousand feet. It was the highest mountain in the entire Pure Yang range, its summit hidden in the sunlight like a golden blade piercing the heavens.

“How could I have forgotten something so obvious?” Max smacked his forehead and chuckled at his own oversight. The highest peak would naturally have the densest yang energy, and with it, the best chance of finding the Pure Yang Jasmine.

Without wasting another moment, Max leapt into motion, his figure flashing through the forest as he made his way toward the great mountain.

Along the way, he encountered more beasts—a pair of massive steel-fanged bears blocking the path, a pride of golden-maned lions defending their territory—but each one fell beneath his blade in quick succession. His recent improvements, coupled with his mastery of One Step Mile, made him unstoppable against ordinary creatures of the region.

At last, Max reached the foot of the towering mountain, pausing only briefly to glance up at its steep cliffs and sunlit ridges. “Little guy, find me that elixir,” he said, glancing at the Rat expectantly.

The little Rat nodded, sniffing deeply at the hot, dry air. After a few moments, it scurried to the left, then circled back, finally pointing decisively toward the far side of the mountain.

Max smiled faintly, adjusted his grip on his sword, and followed. Soon, the mountain’s other side came into view—a wide valley draped in vibrant green vegetation, brimming with vitality despite the overwhelming yang energy.

The air was heavy and warm, thick with the scent of growing life, and as Max stepped deeper into the valley, he faintly heard the soothing sound of spring water trickling somewhere ahead.

His eyes narrowed slightly as he advanced cautiously. ’A spring in a place like this? That could mean something extraordinary is growing nearby.’

After walking only a few hundred feet deeper into the valley, Max finally found what he had been searching for. Across a clear pond, resting on a small patch of soil jutting out like a miniature island, was a flower unlike anything else he had seen in this secret domain.

It was no larger than the size of his palm, yet it radiated a golden glow that lit up its surroundings as though sunlight itself had been trapped within its petals. Each petal was shaped with elegant symmetry, layered like delicate blades of light. Its slender stem shimmered faintly, as if crafted from both gold and jade, thin and proud yet brimming with energy.

“Pure Yang Flower?” Max whispered, his eyes brightening instantly, a rare smile tugging at his lips. This was one of the rarest treasures of yang energy he could have hoped to find here.

According to the technique of Star Flame Art, it was said that this flower could be used as one of the substitute catalysts for practicing the Star Flame Art.

While it was nowhere near enough to unlock the full potential of that technique—true mastery required the elusive energy of the stars themselves—it was still an incredible start. With this flower, he could at least practice ten percent of the Star Flame Art’s true power, giving him a powerful edge even without the elusive star energy.

Suppressing the rush of excitement in his chest, Max’s eyes grew cold and alert. Experience told him there was no such thing as an unguarded spiritual herb, and something as rare as the Pure Yang Flower would certainly be protected by a formidable guardian beast.

He activated his Three Dimensional Body, scanning every inch of the surrounding area and the pond before him. The result surprised him—there were no visible traces of any beast lying in wait. No heartbeat. No energy signature. Nothing that would indicate danger.

“Could this place really be unguarded?” Max muttered, a faint frown creasing his brow. It was too suspicious, but the lure of the Pure Yang Flower was too great to ignore. He tightened his grip on the Blue Dragon Sword and stepped lightly onto the pond’s surface, walking across with a speed that left no ripples behind.

He was just a few steps away from plucking the Pure Yang Flower when his instincts suddenly screamed at him. A colossal black shadow surged up from beneath the clear waters, moving with terrifying speed.

“Not good!”

The water erupted like a geyser, and from it emerged the massive head of a giant python, its mouth wide enough to swallow a man whole. Its scales glistened with an oily black sheen, and its cold, glossy eyes radiated pure killing intent.

Max’s eyes widened in shock—not just because of its size but because the forked tongue it flicked out was pitch black, and even its fangs dripped with a venom so thick it distorted the air around it.

He didn’t hesitate. With a sharp twist of his body, Max unleashed a lightning-fast slash from the Blue Dragon Sword, aiming to cleave straight through the snake’s head.
