Chapter 883: Three Headed Dragon

But before his blade could land, the pond below churned violently again, and to his horror, two more massive heads burst from the depths.

Each head radiated thick waves of energy, the kind only seen in the strongest apex beasts. But this one… this one was even worse. The oppressive aura it emitted wasn’t just at the level of a high Legend Rank beast—it was at the peak of the Legend Rank.

“Damn it!” Max’s expression hardened instantly. He could sense the sheer lethality of this creature; even one head at this level would have been a challenge, but three acting in unison made it far deadlier.

The beast hissed furiously, opening all three maws wide as it spewed forth thick plumes of black poisonous gas, rushing at Max from both flanks and head-on. The venom was so cold and corrosive that even the air hissed as it passed through, eating away at the vitality of the surrounding vegetation.

Max’s pupils contracted sharply. ’Poison too?’ This was no ordinary beast—it had been nourished by something unnatural, perhaps the same yang energy that birthed the Pure Yang Flower itself, twisting its essence into this horrifying guardian.

Without another thought, Max abandoned the flower entirely, retreating with explosive speed as his body blurred back across the pond. The Black Dragon Sword spun defensively in his hand, cutting apart strands of poison as he retreated.

“So it’s guarded after all… and by a peak Legend Rank monster at that,” Max muttered grimly as his feet touched solid ground again. His heart thumped heavily in his chest, both from shock and the rush of excitement that always came from facing such lethal opponents.

This was no ordinary find. The Pure Yang Flower was indeed extraordinary—but so too was the danger that came with it.

“ROAAR!”

Suddenly a roar came from nowhere all of a sudden.

The roar shook the air like thunder, and before Max could even catch his breath, the three massive heads lunged at him, jaws wide enough to swallow him whole.

Each head moved with terrifying precision, their black fangs dripping venom that sizzled as it touched the ground. At the same time, the creature’s colossal body surged out of the pool, sending waves crashing against the rocky banks and scattering debris in every direction.

Max froze for a split second, his mind reeling as he finally saw the beast in its entirety. He had assumed there were three separate giant pythons hiding in the pond, but this was something far worse. This was one single entity—a monstrous serpent with three fully-formed heads, each as deadly as the other.

And then it clicked in his mind. ’A three-headed black dragon…?’

The words escaped his lips in shock. Among serpent-type monsters, there were legends of multi-headed beasts—the most famous being the nine-headed Hydra that terrorized ancient lands—but such creatures were exceedingly rare, their power leagues above their single-headed counterparts.

Even among these legends, the three-headed black dragon was infamous, said to possess the strength and resilience of a true dragon, its scales impervious to ordinary weapons and its breath steeped in deathly venom.

Max’s scalp tingled just imagining the level of danger he was now facing. This was no ordinary peak Legend Rank beast—this was one of the apex predators of the monster world.

The monster roared again, unleashing thick clouds of pitch-black poison from all three mouths as it lunged forward like a rolling storm. The black gas spread instantly, devouring all life it touched, even corroding the very rocks it swept past.

Max’s face turned grim, and he didn’t hesitate for a moment. The Blue Dragon Sword in his hands hummed to life as he instantly invoked the Severing Flow Sword Art, channeling his level 2 Severing Sword Concept into dozens of lethal arcs of sword energy that howled through the air toward the wall of poison.

The collision was catastrophic. Sword arcs met the rolling poison clouds—and shattered instantly. The black gas was so dense and corrosive that even his concept-powered sword energy disintegrated like fragile glass.

Max’s expression darkened, a cold chill spreading across his spine. ’This poison… it’s stronger than I thought!’

“Magic Sword Excalibur!” he roared, wasting no time in escalating his power. His sword flashed upward as a massive golden sword materialized above, blazing like a miniature sun, tearing through the yin-heavy air with divine brilliance. With a sharp command, he brought it crashing down on the three-headed monster.

But what happened next nearly stopped his heart. The three heads roared as one, their muscles coiling and releasing with devastating power. They slammed into the incoming golden sword, their combined force so overwhelming that the attack was deflected midair.

“Bang!”

The impact echoed like an earthquake, shockwaves rippling through the entire clearing. The giant golden sword spun away, crashing into the trees behind, while Max himself was blasted backward by the backlash. He slammed into the grass, rolling several feet before skidding to a stop, but he wasn’t injured.

“Squeak!” The little Rat, startled by the sheer power of the enemy, rushed over, panic in its bright eyes. It chirped anxiously, as if asking if he was alive.

Max waved it off calmly. “I’m fine… Run!” he shouted, his voice laced with urgency.

Because the nightmare was far from over.

The three-headed black dragon had now fully emerged from the pool. Its body was as thick as an ancient tree trunk, easily ten feet wide, its entire length stretching for dozens of feet like an endless black serpent of death. Its scales gleamed like armor forged from black steel, reflecting a faint eerie glow as yin energy oozed from every part of its body.

Each of its three heads rose high into the air, glaring down at Max and the little Rat like a predator savoring its prey.

Then, with a thunderous crack of its massive tail against the ground, all three heads struck simultaneously, their maws snapping shut with bone-crushing force as they lunged to devour both him and his companion in one swift motion.
