1577 One More

Cassarae watched Sylas for the next few weeks with some baffled fascination.

When he first arrived, he seemed like he had something very important to do, as though his ass was on fire or something.

Of course, Sylas’ version of “hair on fire” versus another person’s was very different. She hadn’t said much, but she had even found herself being quite worried because it would take quite a lot to make Sylas as pressed as he was.

Yet, after they left the ship and killed Jala, it was like Sylas had completely forgotten that he had important things to do.

He spent time with his family, railed her maybe a little bit too much at this point, and he gained a unique fascination for food that she had only ever seen in Elara.

The little glutton of the family had always been Elara. Sylas had been giving her his sweets and desserts for as long as their parents could remember. But suddenly, their disciplined son seemed to have become someone else.

Of course, what they didn’t quite understand was that the world of calorie restriction was vastly different in the wider universe-especially when you were a powerhouse.

The amount of upkeep Sylas needed to maintain his strength was one matter. The amount he needed to increase it was another matter entirely.

Now, because he was a strong member of an A-Grade Race, not to mention having a Manifested Gluttony Seed on top of that, the food Sylas had access to now was actually much too poor in quality. He had no choice but to make up for it with quantity.

And then, after a month had passed, Sylas suddenly woke up one day with a different sort of look in his eyes.

Cassarae could swear she heard something about it taking long enough. She was confused at first until Sylas said he was leaving soon.

“The Beast Warlord Sanctum?”

“Mm.”

“Wasn’t it supposed to take a few more years?”

“Mm.”

Cassarae raised a finger for the response, but then she remembered Sylas using something reminiscent of a Warlord Armor before. Was it related?

She was right. Sylas had expected this to happen after he ruined their plans. In fact, he was pretty sure that the reason the gathering was happening so early in the first place was because of things related to Earth—at least in part.

It had to be remembered that even the 073 Sanctum was caught off guard by all of this. They had to even implement a special plan to accelerate the growth of their disciples because of it.

Sylas hadn’t raised a finger since he left the Demon World, but he was fairly sure that those in the background knew what happened. It was just a matter of how they would react.

It seemed that it was already time to return to the Sanctum.

The bad news? He wouldn’t be here once Earth completed its integration with the universe.

The good news? Cassarae and Moose would be here to handle it.

Cassarae didn’t seem to be aware of that just yet, though.

**

Sylas stood in a vast field, flat as far as the eye could see with the exception of a single ship in the middle of it all.

His ship didn’t look like it had changed much at all other than the fact that it had become a sleek black versus its previous silver. Sylas could also tell that it was much more cohesive than previously.

Before, even a decent Rune Master could tell that it was formed of five different ships fused into a single one. However, now, it looked like it was formed from head to toe in the image of a single person.

Sylas could tell that Old Brama had followed his instructions. He hadn’t let the woman lead things, but instead, because he had an extra set of helping hands, he didn’t have to cut as many corners as before.

Considering the contraptions that surrounded the ship-large metallic arms spewing gears and oil-Old Brama had probably gotten the woman’s help to build them and then restructured the feasibility of his plans based on them.

Now, this ship was definitely not just the best in the Milky Way Sect, or even just the entire Horizon-it was competitive with some lower-level B-tier ships.

Of course, the cost-to-reward ratio was heavily skewed. While this was competitive with most low-level B-tier ships, it cost more than top-class B-tier ships.

However, that was the price to pay for lacking in skill.

Though they had taken the ship from the Veil Humans, in order to avoid a future where they might suffer at the hands of technology they didn’t understand, this was the best option.

It had to be clarified that the reason the cost was so high wasn’t because Sylas was paying out of pocket. The ledger for the costs was entirely made up by the Veil Humans’ ship itself. It alone was probably worth more than all of Sylas’ accumulated wealth.

The Veil Human Rune Master that built it would probably feel real heartache seeing his ship torn down and rebuilt into such an inferior item, but once again… this was the only way.

“Let’s go.”

These were the only words Sylas said as he stepped into the ship. He had given his family enough time, and he had given Earth the breathing room it needed.

There was only one more threat to deal with.

WHOOSH.

The stars blazed by in lines of silver across the darkness, the ship moving so fast that it felt like the expanse of the universe wasn’t all that large at all.

What was shocking was that even at this sort of speed-one that felt as though you could cross a galaxy in a matter of minutes—it still wasn’t fast enough.

SHUU.

The ship came to a sudden stop right at the edge of the Milky Way Galaxy, all thoughts

of inertia bending and twisting to its Will and falling into obedience.

It looked as though nothing at all was ahead, but Sylas stared at the expanse of darkness as though it was hiding something sinister.
