1617 Talker

Nosphaleen vanished from Sylas’ arms and they slowly lowered.

Leia’s gaze flashed with fury. It wasn’t just about being ignored, or even the fact she had missed just now—though both of these things truly exacerbated her current mood.

The real issue was that she had promised Robareda to get Nosphaleen for her, and now she was gone. Unless she could force Sylas to bring her back out again, there would be no getting her unless they went and found Sylas after the gathering.

Who knew where he could hide by that point?

“Return her now!” Leia roared. She seemed far more agitated about it than she should have ever been.

Sylas didn’t seem to have heard her at all, his gaze tilting up into the skies as though he was watching something. He wasn’t very familiar with this world, as he had only just woken up.

Was this the Demon World? A simulation?

It was interesting, and it was no wonder Nosphaleen had struggled so much. Using her abilities here required ten times the effort because she was deciphering the Demon World instead of the real world.

If he were here to help facilitate it, it would have been easier. But without his support, she was handling all the computing power on her own and couldn’t use his comprehension of Demonic Aether as a crutch.

That said, Nosphaleen wasn’t the only one at a disadvantage here. The same was true of everyone else as well. Using techniques and things of the like was much harder, as was accessing the Will of their Armors.

It was just especially unfortunate for Nosphaleen. While her abilities took about the same dip as everyone else’s, her stamina drain was orders of magnitude beyond theirs.

Nosphaleen blamed herself, believing that she just wasn’t as good at controlling her abilities and thus wasn’t great at rationing her stamina. But that was barely 10% of the issue.

Sylas nodded to himself in understanding and then took a step.

Leia’s staff swung and missed again.

Sylas, however, appeared right next to Fifth Prince Buri. The latter’s head was almost completely reattached. Lying unmoving in a corner of the battlefield, surrounded by the protection of his army of people, he thought that so long as he had a few more minutes, he should be back up to at least a fighting state. Though not completely 100%, it should be enough to protect himself.

Why would Sylas allow him the opportunity?

“Stop!” The centaurs and members of the 018 Sanctum charged Sylas immediately. There was barely an air gap between them and the Fifth Prince to begin with. With Sylas appearing right in their midst, it was like he was delivering himself into their encirclement.

Every single one of them froze in place.

Their bodies were wrapped in a golden-green glow so powerful several of them screamed, their bones cracking beneath the pressure of Sylas’ telekinesis.

Sylas squatted down beside Fifth Prince Buri’s body. The latter’s eyes were opened wide, but his neck hadn’t fully fused with his spine yet. He couldn’t control anything beneath his head at all right now.

He could only look into those cold, emotionless eyes, the ring of gold around their swimming emerald colors piercing into his very soul. Any attempt he made to stir his Will —to change something in a vain attempt to protect himself—was entirely crushed.

Sylas’ Will was so far beyond his own it was like he was facing off against a deity.

Maybe if he had his body, he could make it a real fight. But in a state like this, where he had no choice but to fight against Sylas’ greatest strength directly… There was no chance at all.

Sylas slowly reached a hand forward, his claws extending in two pairs.

Fifth Prince Buri’s head squirmed, but he couldn’t dodge as they pierced into his eyes with an almost agonizing slowness.

[Chaotic Menace].

Sylas’ claws cut through his defenses as though they were made of clay putty.

Without a throat under his own control, Fifth Prince Buri couldn’t even scream. He could only feel his eyes slowly burst, Sylas digging deeper and deeper until he suddenly couldn’t feel anything at all anymore.

Sylas’ claw dug into his brain itself, the blades at the ends of his fingers extending until they shredded everything in their path apart.

Sylas slowly stood, pulling Fifth Prince Buri’s body up by his head as though he was some sort of human-shaped bowling ball. He looked around at his frozen protectors, his expression still much the same as it had always been.

A disk of silver flew by, dozens of heads flying into the skies all at once.

Just like that, the elites of the 018 Sanctum-geniuses who held up the pillars of the F- tier-were all torn to pieces.

Then they vanished.

Fifth Prince Sona’s eyes were as wide as could be.

Insane.

The both of them.

It was like Sylas wasn’t aware that this was being watched at all. How did he think the Buri would react to this, exactly? Even he hadn’t dared to kill the Fifth Prince of the Buri. What made Sylas so confident that he could do exactly that? What the hell was he thinking?!

Sylas stood amidst the carnage, his hand dripping with blood, but the corpse that had once hung from it was nowhere to be found. He was quite silent at the moment, but his next target couldn’t have been more obvious.

Leia.

A sneer hung on her face. At this point, whatever cutesy sort of inclinations she had had before vanished into a long-abandoned ether. She gripped her staff and looked back at Sylas, barely able to hide her disdain.

“I really can’t believe this. A group of children really think themselves capable of pushing me to my limits. Are you under the impression that I fear you?”

Once again, Sylas didn’t say a single thing. In fact, other than the words he had spoken to Nosphaleen, he hadn’t felt the need to say anything.

He wasn’t much of a talker.

If he wanted your head, he would rather take it and then say a few words to your corpse.

Sylas vanished.
