Chapter 1639 Lazy (2)

Sylas’ routine was more than just dull. His battle style was becoming more and more stripped down, so even when he was awake it was quite bland to watch.

Yet, they couldn’t take their eyes off of him.

They were all looking for something—a limit, a weakness, a chink in the armor. But no matter how long they observed, that other foot didn’t seem to be dropping.

Sylas improved faster than the waves could, and subtly, they were beginning to notice his telekinesis also becoming a sharper and better part of his combat style.

Every one of these things they saw was shocking to an extreme. But the problem was that after realizing that Sylas was a Perfect Spark Master, everything else just felt pale in comparison.

Sylas was right about the use of telekinesis in close combat being a very unique and exclusive combat style. The amount of Wisdom and skill you needed to pull off such a thing was nothing short of ridiculous. The variations, tweaks, and changes you could make in split moments were too numerous-so much so that even the most elite of the Emperor Sanctum rarely even tried, except in very acute and practiced situations.

Sylas was clearly trying, and he was very, very far from succeeding, but the progress he was making in the first place was far too fast, as incremental as it was.

Of course, they were not only still underestimating Sylas’ intellect and genius, but they also didn’t know that Sylas had a far more systematic method.

[Arcane Telekinesis].

While it didn’t describe this method of combat in detail, the unique concepts within seemed far more conducive to helping uncover its secrets than anything else Sylas had ever come across.

As restrictive as the Scorned Wraps were, it was obvious enough that the Madness Disciples would have a way to make up for it, and this method of combat seemed to be that secret.

Of course… Sylas could take his Scorned Wraps off whenever he wanted now. It was just that he didn’t want to alert the little girl who had been oddly silent for a very long while now.

Everyone’s fascination with how far Sylas would go, no matter how boring his combat became, didn’t dull in the slightest, even as the other Sanctums began to fall off one after another.

By the time you got to the tenth wave, even a common soldier in the Demon Waves was considered an EE- warrior, making them stronger than the very best Sanctums beneath the 030 Sanctum had to offer.

But when their numbers and the general fatigue of the participants were taken into account, there were fewer than 25 Sanctums remaining in total, meaning more than 15 had already been eliminated.

The problem?

The remaining Sanctums could see that the 073 Sanctum was very much still present.

According to their understanding of Sylas’ tactics, it didn’t even make sense that he was still going. It might have worked for the first or second waves, but by the third wave they were far too powerful.

And if he was continuously targeting stronger Sanctums to deal with those issues for him, then the number that had been eliminated should be more than 15.

Nothing made sense.

To those in the outside world, though, there was a curious change.

After the sixth wave or so, Sylas began to change locations-almost frustratingly so.

Unsurprisingly, the 001 and 002 Sanctums were looking for him, the first because a certain Ape Warlord wanted to knock the Primus Imperium Conquest Title down a peg, and the second for even more obvious reasons.

However, they couldn’t seem to pin down where he was exactly.

Sylas hadn’t even scouted out the regions again after his first stint, but it was like he had eyes everywhere.

When he moved on the sixth wave, he “barely” dodged a scout that passed right through his territory and just happened to land in a territory they had already been through.

At first, it felt like it was a coincidence, but then he did it again, and then again. And as the number of Sanctums decreased, the number of territories that Sylas had to hide in likewise increased, making it even harder to find him.

The limitations of the scouts were too much. If they didn’t make it back to their own territories in time, they would have to face off against a Demon Wave on their own.

Sylas clearly knew that and likewise knew this meant there would be a small window of time they could use to scout out other territories.

They would need a certain amount of time to get to new territories and likewise return to them. They would also need to be cautious so that other Sanctums didn’t surround and kill them.

But because Sylas knew where every Sanctum was after his first round of scouting, and because he could map out what territories they could scout based on timing and which ones they had been to already, he could basically play a game of musical chairs with them.

This led to a situation where Sylas almost lazily moved from one territory to the next, predicting their movements as though he could see the future, while the scouts ran around as though their hair had been lit on fire, wondering how just a single man could disappear.

By the time they were closing in on the fourteenth wave and the number of Sanctums had dipped below 17 left, the territories were starting to become small enough that the scouts could cover more area in a single day, and there was no way that Sylas could continue to hide.

And yet he did.

He simply summoned Nosphaleen, found some water, and took a nap at the bottom of a lake. As an E-tier now, Nosphaleen’s Gene Beast Forms were so powerful they could even distract and fool some D-tiers. These E-tier scouts didn’t stand a single chance.

The fifteenth wave…

The sixteenth…

The nineteenth…

The twentieth…
